摘要
國內的大地工程設計和施工多沿襲歐美或日本之經驗,在地質和工程環境類似的情況下,這些經驗或可提供有效的幫助。在可見的未來國內可能從事的土木工程建設,將包含超過萬公頃以上之填海造地、在卵礫石層中進行深開挖、深基礎、或隧道等極具地域性特色之大地工程。國內外在這些問題上所能提供的經驗都有限。若要達到合理和經濟的設計,我們需要針對這些問題,在工程尚未進行之前建立一套實用、可行之規範,欲達到此一目最有效的方法便是有系統地在一些指定的地點從事實體的大地施工,進而從這些活動中累積經驗。並藉有限的資源建立一套符合本土所需的大地工程資料庫。在指定的地點從事有系統、實體的大地工程試驗便是國家大地試驗站(National Geotechnical Experimentation Sites, NGES)之主要精神。本文就美加兩國NGES之現況做一簡介,對國內NGES之發展提出個人的看法並為其催生。
英文摘要
The domestic geotechnical engineering construction and design usually follow the experiences from Europe, America or Japan. Those experiences are helpful when geological conditions and construction environments are identical . Major construction projects to be carried out locally in the foreseeable future include challenging geotechnical undertakings such as the reclaimation of over ten thousand hectares of land, deep excavations, deep foundation constructions, and tunnelling in gravely deposits. Experiences in these areas, domestic or abroad, are limited. To achieve reasonable and economical designs, we need to, before the projects start, establish practical and feasible guidelines that deal with these challenges. The most effective way of accomplishing this goal is to systematically perform full scale experiments at specific test sites, and learn from these experiments. Geotechnical databases that are suitable for local conditions can then be accumulated with limited resources. To systematically perform full scale geotechnical experiments at specific test sites is the key spirit of National Geotechnical Experimentation Sites(NGES). This paper introduces the status of NGES in the U.S. and Canada, and offers our views as to the local development of NGES.
